want to look up
and find myself on solid ground
not wonder if a tossing sea
is the only foundation around
want to hold something
tangible as the trunk of this tree
lean against it for shade
let it firmly hold and stabilize me
want to actually hear
that i’m seen and understood
and see real actions
of the soul that said they would
too much disappearing
into an inner world more beautiful and free
