probably in ways you have not been before
i will dig until i’ve held before you
a mirror reflecting your soul
some have not found me easy
and they’ve let me know
others have openly loved the way
i sink beneath the skin instead of letting go
and when it’s too much for you
and you’ve backed away
i understand without a word
i am observant in that way
i won’t force myself upon anyone
and i won’t beg you to stay
i’ve endured too many indignities
to not choose me some days
because in life i’ve learned there are those
who won’t always see your qualities as good
but they don’t need to meet you
in every place you love
we will be at times lively and strong
and other times we won’t have much might
but there will always be someone
who will find you to be just fine
and even more than that,
there will be those that smile
and say “just right”
