i am a turned orange leaf floating
haphazardly to the ground
coals simmering in a pit
the gentle crackling sound
i am the full-bodied laughter
in a crowded room
and skates across a wood floor
the tap tap tap of dance shoes
the twirling of a fun dress
the dissatisfied poet's forevermore
i am the tears falling
gently then hurriedly to the water
in a lake
i am the silence screaming
because every day im still awake
i am the sighs echoing in holy hallways
and the smiles bouncing from
each blessed remembrance
the writer with the muse
relative to the day
flowing from her pen
i am the iced heart
melting with a raging fire
at the instance of a tender voice
i am the compassion for others
while forgetting my own need
for freedom of choice
i am everything
while i am deserving of nothing at all
i am sunlight
moonlight
the day
