Flying Fish

When he learned
even if he was aquatic, he had wings
it gave him moments
where he felt free

He flew above the water
seconds at a time
she was his for then
he lived for it each time

She an avian meant
for the heavens and the wind
she never thought it capable
to meet anything like him

But there was a way
even just briefly
when they could bask
in each other's company

It was enough to induce
the angst for something, ideally
and he was eager to promise
to leap boundlessly

And he did
And she believed
because a fish with wings
was reality
