grounding

i open my hand

and in my palm

lie blooms with the slightest fragrance

of honeysuckle and jasmine

my laugh calls upon the forests

and the wind rises

its humor meeting me

in delight

my arms wrap around a tree

and its heart beats within

pulsing to a satisfied rhythm

of validation and peace

my feet push down into the earth

my toes covered in dirt

and a distant drum sounds

like a dance coursing through my veins

my eyes always on the sky

whether they flow freely or are dry

they capture colors and lights

and stars and sighs

everything takes a breath—

and pauses a moment

we are full with bless—ed life,

we hold it close and tight

and then we let go
