parallel

I will not embarrass you 
with words about love
Instead I will simply say:
I am so happy you exist 

in the world that I do 

and that there was a time 
for however long it will be 
our lives ran parallel 
so that we could breathe the same air 
and bask in the same warm rays of sunshine 
and walk the same paths 

to create memories of words
and actions that kept our heads above water 
and made life feel more like an adventure 
and less like suffering 

you were part of all the great parts 
and I looked forward to them each day
