nor will every day I only speak like the world is sunny
Even when many times I will express how it really can be
I will not talk only of the things that on the surface are shiny
I will dig inside and find the raw truth and bring it close to me
Examine it, consider what it looks like privately,
learn of it, and marvel at that too,
then wonder about how we can set it free
while believing there is hope for more than just
what it claims to be
and then I might express it so that it lives vibrantly
I am the good, the bad, the sad as can be,
as well as the kind, the loving, and the sweet
I am happy, joyful, and vibrant as the sun
That's what most people would see
I am all of it together and this is me
and if it's too much
then it is
but for me who lives with it inside
I am the one working
all the time on the improving
Some have told me it is not true
I am not at all heavy
That for them I am easy
but for the life of me
I still find it difficult to believe
But they've not made me feel
I am ugly
for all that I carry
And for some who find
that I am tiring
Perhaps they do not really
know me
but then again not everyone is made
for everybody
So if this teaches us anything
as we “bring it in
to examine it closely,"
it is: be who you are
and keep loving
There will be those who want to leave
and others who really want to stay
but you are always okay
With your heart intact
and your unique perspective
with the way you move about your every day;
Continue your journey in the world
just keep going
You are only on your way.
