the fire within her
burned intensely hot
to alleviate her soul
she sought the winter chill;
burned intensely hot
to alleviate her soul
she sought the winter chill;
she walked out
into the cold frosty bite
and the boiling emotion
rose and fell
she breathed in deeply
trying to take in the freshness;
she sighed slowly
trying to let go of her restlessness
replace her hopelessness
forget her helplessness
and amongst the firs
and the evergreens
spilled feverish tears
wrapped in steam
she kept going barely seeing
barely knowing the time of day;
she just needed to release,
weeping along the way
praying that this once
she could be just hidden enough;
to be herself,
and this soft crunch
of her shoes in the snow,
and the sniffling of her nose
her heartbreak glowed
like embers, she supposed;
and as she walked she wondered,
if from afar
all the smoke rose?
and if not,
where did all her love go?
