I felt so full and free 

just me, the sun, 

and the s-e-a 

the waves rocked 

in a moment so sweet 

in the water, 

with the breeze 

my God gave 

this moment to me

You looked at me 

and smiled 

and the sun rose in the sky 

sunlight poured into the room 

and climbed from floor 

to ceiling 

Deep Down

Deep down it goes 

where no one knows 

I hide the night 

the dark out of sight 

the raw unspoken 

and all that is broken. 

I will smile and laugh 

but I give you just half 

of the part of me that lives carefree 

but the dead leaves 

and dry heaves 

and the endless battles I lost to anxiety 

it stays, too, hidden in me
